[B]URLINGTON — In this episode of VTDiggerโ€™s visual podcast, produced with our media partners VCAM and RETN, we explore the relationship between the city and major tax-exempt institutions.

This episode explores how the city negotiated payments in lieu of property taxes for city services for the University of Vermont, the University of Vermont Medical Center and Champlain College.

Mayor Miro Weinberger is pressing these nonprofits, which have combined annual revenue of more than $1.8 billion, to increase voluntary payments to support a 10-year infrastructure program for the city.

Morgan True was VTDigger's Burlington bureau chief covering the city and Chittenden County.
