COLCHESTER — A St. Michael’s College student was found dead early Wednesday in the Gilbrook Natural Area near the campus, school officials said.
They identified the student as senior business major Jeremiah Collins, of Bridgewater, Massachusetts. Winooski police were called and Collins’ death is under investigation, but foul play is not suspected, according to a news release from the school.
Winooski police were not able to provide any new information Thursday.
“The college community’s thoughts and prayers are with Jerry’s family and friends,” school officials said in a statement. “Counseling and grief support are available through the Bergeron Wellness Center … as well as through the Office of Campus Ministry.”
Collins’ family has been notified by police, and school staff have spoken to them as well as his roommates and immediate faculty, according to the release.
