Police arrested an Arlington woman Wednesday on allegations that she embezzled from the local Lions Club.

Mary Kerner, 60, turned herself in at the Vermont State Police Shaftsbury barracks this week, police said.

Kerner is accused of embezzling $18,560 from the Arlington Lions Club between 2009 and 2013.

She volunteered as the club’s treasurer and had access to a debit card, according to state police. She allegedly withdrew cash from different ATMs more than 100 times and used the cash for herself.

A new treasurer discovered the alleged theft in 2015, state police said.

Kerner is due in court in Bennington County later this month.
