Henry Harris, a protester with the People’s Department of Environmental Justice, has been charged with trespassing and has been fined $500 for littering.
Harris was one of 11 protesters who demonstrated on May 29 at the Randolph home of Chris Recchia, the commissioner of the Department of Public Service.
Members of the People’s Department of Environmental Justice served a “notice of eminent domain” to Recchia in protest of the commissioner’s approval of a Vermont Gas pipeline in Addison County.
The protesters put up caution tape around Recchia’s property, pretended to cut down trees, painted an orange stripe on his driveway and erected a mock oil rig on his lawn. Harris has been charged with littering for leaving the wooden structure behind.
Harris has been cited to appear in Orange County Superior Court on July 13.
