Lynn Boggs started her job in April 2015 after James Daily retired. She holds a masterโs degree in business administration and science of nursing, according to a news release when she assumed the new position.
Boggs most recently presided over two controversial personnel moves designed to save the hospital money: a rewrite of doctorsโ contracts that made part of their compensation performance-based, and the layoff of nurses combined with an increase in low-level medical assistants.
Maureen McLaughlin, the chair of the board of directors at Porter, responded to inquiries from VTDigger with a news release. โLynn has led the organization at a time of great change for small community hospitals like Porter,โ she said in the release. โWe appreciate her dedication and commitment to the organization.โ
Later, McLaughlin said in an interview: โWe accepted Lynn Boggsโ resignation today. Porter has been having a difficult time lately, and weโre just ready to accept her resignation and take the next step forward.โ
โThis is not about any specific incident,โ she added. โThis is just about Porter trying to move forward. We have a lot of work to do to stay healthy in this environment, and we just want to focus on that.โ
Boggs said in the news release: โThank you for the opportunity to serve as President and CEO of this great institution. I wish the Porter community well as they continue the important work of providing exceptional patient-centered care in our community.โ
The board has appointed Dr. Fred Kniffin to serve as acting president and CEO.
