Matt Dunne, a Democratic candidate for governor, has declared his allegiance to Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign and will be stumping for the Vermont senator in New Hampshire this week.
Dunne said in a statement that he supports Sanders because “he is talking about the problems of our time and mobilizing voters like we’ve never seen before.”
“He’s taking on the issues of climate change, rising poverty levels, and the loss of the middle class,” Dunne said. Bernie is engaging a wide range of voters and giving a voice to people who have felt left out of the political process.”
Dunne will be working at Sanders phone banks in Burlington and West Lebanon, New Hampshire, this week and will knock on doors in Claremont, New Hampshire, on Saturday.
Dunne’s opponent in the Democratic primary, Sue Minter, has not thrown her support behind Sanders or his challenger Hillary Clinton. “I have chosen not to make an endorsement,” Minter said. “I am thrilled we have two great candidates who are talking about real issues.”
