Former Vice President Al Gore, who received the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize for his work addressing climate change, will present his solutions to addressing global warming at the University of Vermont next week.
The sold-out event, entitled “The Climate Crisis and the Case for Hope,” is scheduled for Tuesday morning at UVM’s Ira Allen Chapel at 26 University Place in Burlington.
Gore’s visit to Vermont is being coordinated by Seventh Generation, an all-natural consumer product company based in Burlington. Gore’s investment firm, Generation Investment Management, invested $30 million in Seventh Generation in 2014.
“It’s audacious and rather daunting, but we wanted to engage and educate and inspire our employees around this goal by hosting the former vice president,” said Ashley Orgain, manager of mission advocacy and outreach at Seventh Generation.
Gore will speak to employees at Seventh Generation before the talk, and is also scheduled to host a roundtable with Vermont business leaders to discuss carbon reduction goals.
Limited overflow seating will be available at Mann Auditorium on Colchester Avenue.
