Sen. Bernie Sanders has raised $15 million in the past two months, most of it in small donations of $250 or less.

The Bernie 2016 presidential campaign said Thursday that since April 30 it has received 400,000 contributions from 250,000 people. The campaign said the average donation was $33.51 (400,000 times $33.51 equals $13.4 million; the balance comes from the sale of T-shirts and other merchandise).

The campaign said almost all of the donations were received through Sanders’ presidential campaign website BernieSanders.com.

Sanders, I-Vt., is seeking the Democratic nomination for president in 2016. Neither he nor frontrunner Hillary Clinton has filed a campaign finance report with the Federal Election Commission. The deadline for filing is July 15.

Clinton has raised $45 million in the same period.

Sanders will spend this 4th of July weekend campaigning in Iowa, site of the first presidential caucuses Feb. 1 and 2.
