The Vermont Student Assistance Corp., a public nonprofit agency that offers career counseling and financial services to college-bound students and adults, announced lowered interest rates for its Vermont Advantage education loans in a news release Thursday.
The lowest possible rate under the Vermont Advantage loan is 5.5 percent, according to the release.
“We’re very excited, because we’ve never been able to offer rates this low before,” said VSAC Director of Public Affairs Sabina Haskell, “Last year it was 5.85.”
“The Vermont Advantage is good option for students and families to help make up the difference between the total cost of education and the various kinds of financial aid they already may have received,” said VSAC CEO Scott Giles in the press release. “For 50 years, VSAC has been Vermont’s postsecondary education and training information resource. We are dedicated to working with Vermonters as they continue their studies after high school and helping them to finance their education.”
Vermont residents are eligible for the Vermont Advantage loan, as are out of state students attending Vermont institutions.
