Vermont State Police are investigating a death after receiving a 911 call late Saturday that a man had been shot at a home on Richardson Road in Corinth.

Police said troopers responded at about 11:15 p.m. and found a man unresponsive inside the residence. Emergency medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.

The death is considered suspicious, according to a state police news release.

Corinth, a town with a population of about 1,200 residents, sits in the eastern part of Orange County about 20 miles southeast of Montpelier.

A preliminary investigation indicates the incident arose from a domestic dispute involving people familiar with one another, the release said. Everyone associated with the matter is accounted for, and police said there is no related danger to the public.

The manโ€™s body will be taken to the Chief Medical Examinerโ€™s Office in Burlington for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death. Police said they will release his identity after notifying relatives.
