It’s up to lawmakers to determine who will be the next governor. Under the Vermont Constitution, if no candidate gets more than 50 percent of the vote, lawmakers must select a governor from the three top vote-getters in the General Election.

Although we expect lawmakers will cast secret ballots, it’s clear that many constituents are interested in learning how legislators voted.

Because of the public interest in the legislative election, VTDigger is asking lawmakers to fill out a form declaring who they voted for: Dan Feliciano, the Libertarian candidate, Scott Milne, the Republican candidate, or Gov. Peter Shumlin, the Democratic candidate.

The deadline for filing the form is 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8. If you are a lawmaker and you didn’t receive an email from VTDigger, please contact agalloway@vtdigger.org for a link to the form.

VTDigger will publish the results on Thursday evening.
