TOWNSHEND — A 62-year-old town lister was due in court Thursday to face charges related to the slaying of two men in Townshend.
Robin O’Neill was to be arraigned in Windham Superior Court in connection with shooting deaths of Steve Lott, 60, and his son, Jamis Lott, 28, who were found shot to death Tuesday in a home shared by O’Neill and the elder Lott. Both men were taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for autopsy.
According to a news release from the Vermont State Police, troopers were called to the home at just before 9 p.m. Tuesday. Rescue Inc. was also dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, troopers met a woman, O’Neill, who told them there were two people inside the building who had been shot. Emergency responders from Rescue Inc. confirmed that both men were dead. O’Neill was then taken into custody.
According to information from Townshend, Steve Lott and O’Neill were elected in March to be Town Listers.
Detectives from the Vermont State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation are overseeing the investigation.
