FairPoint Communications says some of its striking employees or their supporters are following replacement workers to the homes and businesses of customers in an attempt to disrupt service.
FairPoint in a news release called the tactic “mobile picketing” and warned customers to be aware.
“Once on site, this type of picketing can include groups of people circling a worker on a job, the use of bullhorns and whistles, taunting and other tactics intended to intimidate the person trying to serve customers,” FairPoint said in the release. “When the behavior actually interferes with the completion of the work, for examples by blocking trucks, blowing air horns in employees’ ears, or crowding so close the workers cannot do their jobs, the strikers are violating the law.”
FairPoint also claims its equipment has been damaged by vandalism or sabotage, citing a fiber optic cable it says was cut in Brentwood, New Hampshire.
