The Vermont Attorney General’s Office is a accusing a traveling meat salesman of violating the state’s Consumer Protection Act.
The complaint alleges that Matthew Terry of New York state misled customers in northwestern Vermont about the price per pound and cuts of meat they were to receive. The lawsuit also claims Terry did not notify customers of their right to cancel, did not return complaint calls and was not licensed to operate in Vermont.
“Vermont consumers have been targeted with aggressive door-to-door marketing” Attorney General Bill Sorrell said in a news release. “The disclosure, cancellation, and licensing laws are designed to protect consumers in these high-pressure situations. They need to be followed.”
Terry did business under the name Adirondack Meats.
