A windstorm that blew through the Burlington area on the evening of Tuesday, July 8, caused damage to “a number” of Vermont Air National Guard F-16s.
In a press release issued on Friday afternoon, Capt. Dyana Allen wrote that hangar doors at the 158th Fighter Wing collapsed inward and damaged the fighter jets.
The Guard is conducting a safety investigation and members of the F-16 Aircraft Depot from Hill Air Force Base in Utah will conduct a damage analysis this week.
The National Guard Bureau will also visit the 158th Fighter Wing to analyze building damage caused by the storm.
No cost estimate of the damage is available at this time.
