Martin Frank, longtime editorial page editor of the Valley News, has been named the paper’s new editor.

Publisher Dan McClory made the announcement at a staff meeting Tuesday afternoon. “Marty has been a valuable member of the Valley News staff for over 27 years. He has earned the respect of his colleagues while serving as editorial page editor and local news editor,” McClory said. “Marty will carry on our tradition of editorial excellence and be an integral part of the team that continues to develop our web presence. I am excited and look forward to working with Marty in his new role.”

Frank, 59, succeeds Jeffrey Good, who left the Valley News at the end of October to become co-editor of Seven Days, the alternative weekly based in Burlington. He takes over at a time of rapid change in the newspaper industry, one in which the Valley News seeks to maintain its vibrant base as a print publication while exploring the potential of its website. As editor, he will be responsible for all news operations, while remaining a member of the paper’s editorial board. The appointment is effective Jan. 5

The Valley News is the daily newspaper and website of the Upper Valley, online at www.vnews.com.
