In a TV ad airing on WCAX and WPTZ, Jack McMullen, Republican candidate for attorney general, focuses more on his personal history than his policy platform. During the 30-second vignette, sepia photographs float across the screen, highlighting his working-class upbringing, his education (BA from Columbia University; JD and MBA from Harvard University), his naval career, and his teaching stint at Harvard.
“The first ad is an introduction,” McMullen explained, adding, “after that we’ll talk substance.”
In subsequent TV and radio ads, the next of which is scheduled to air at the end of the month, McMullen plans to address prescription- and illegal drug-related crime, the importance of bringing “independence and balance” to the attorney general’s office and his intention to incorporate modern practices into the position in order to eliminate what he calls “government boondoggles.”
