You’ve probably noticed the VTDigger website looks a little different today.
Bryan Campbell, our web developer, has created a new section, updated our look and revamped our email subscription feeds.
Just below the featured story slider on the VTDigger homepage is a section called “Tidbits.” For several years we have run a Digger Tidbits column, which has been a running summary of short-hit stories. This new feature enables us to give you those quickie pieces of information you’re looking for — as soon as they surface. Though we will still be running press releases for announcements, you’ll find stories that need a little more context in “Tidbits.” And sometimes, of course, those briefs will become fodder for our signature long form in-depth and investigative stories.
We are also debuting a “Campaign 2012” breaking news section that like the “Tidbits” will be a place where you can find the latest greatest information about what the pols are saying and doing as the election season unfolds.
If you go to the second item in the masthead navigation bar, you’ll find the Tidbit category. The Campaign 2012 stories are listed under the Politics drop down menu. In both cases, if you click on the category, a listing of all of the stories will come up.
The slider is where we will continue to feature stories that are on the lengthier side of the spectrum (OK, sometimes very lengthy) and give you the inside scoop on politics and public affairs in Vermont.
You’ll find the subscribe and donate buttons in the upper righthand corner of the masthead. The share and search buttons are now in the upper left corner of site, above the masthead.
In addition, we are offering a new subscribe feature that enables readers to choose what feeds they want to receive in the morning subscription service. If you want to continue to receive our original content, opinion pieces and press releases in one daily update, no worries — nothing changes unless you select new options.
Those new email options include: original content and opinion only, press releases only or the combination of original content, opinion and press releases. Plus, of course, the weekly wrap-up.
You can also change your RSS feeds accordingly. This way, if you’re only looking for original VTDigger content, you have that option.
We hope you like the tweaks to the homepage and the subscription service, and, as always, we welcome your feedback.
