Cutting the state budget is as not as easy as it might seem.
Economist Tom Kavet testified last week before a legislative committee about his analysis of the effects of $30 million in cuts proposed for the Agency of Human Services. Kavet’s findings, first reported on the Web site vtdigger.org, showed that cutting $30 million in state funds, accompanied by $24 million cut in federal funds, could lead to the loss of between 1,000 and 1,400 jobs.
