Hello again Vtdigger readers. Over the months we’ve heard from some folks that our publishing of opinion pieces on the homepage in the Featured Stories slider and the More Top Stories area seemed a little off. While we’ve always had an Opinion section on the site where these pieces lived, we lacked a front page area to display this content separate from our news areas. You may have also noticed over the past few weeks we have been running political cartoons from Vermont’s own, Jeff Danziger. Well, it seems we needed to do something to accommodate the increase in editorial content and the calls for us to stop publishing these pieces in the news areas of the homepage, so we’ve moved forward and developed a new editorial section on the homepage.
About midway down the homepage you’ll find a new section entitled “Editorials.” We’ll be using this area to bring the most recent political cartoons and opinion pieces to the homepage while keeping this content separate from our news areas. To conserve space, we’ll only be running the two most recent opinion pieces in this area. However, you can access all of our opinion and editorial pieces by clicking on the Editorial header, or by clicking on “Opinion” in the Sections navigation on the right side of your screen. We’ll also be publishing political cartoons in this area when we have them available. In the event that we have multiple submissions on a given day, those pieces will be published in the editorial comic archive, accessible via the text link just below the comic featured on the homepage.
Of course now that we’ve developed this new homepage area, we’re putting the ball right back into your court! So fire up those typewriters, get those crow quill pens a’scrawling and send us along your opinions, editorials, and political doodles!
As always, thanks for reading and supporting Vtdigger.org. Happy diggingโฆ
