Philip Ackerman-Leist, associate professor of environmental studies at Green Mountain College, will speak about his book “Rebuilding the Foodshed” at Shelburne Farms Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. Before the event is a supper with local food for registered guests. The lecture is free.

Ackerman-Leist has been living off the grid for years and runs a farm in Pawlet with his wife, Erin, said Shay Totten, communications director at Chelsea Green Publishing. His book showcases models for growing and processing environmentally sustainable food and how to create a foodshed that’s resilient enough to endure severe weather and situations where traditional supply chains are hampered.

Chelsea Green Publishing is 29-year-old publishing house in White Junction River that focus on books relating to agriculture, food and farming.
