  1. Please raise taxes and repeal Challenges for Change!!!!!!! Stop shrinking state government to the bone!!!!! TAX THE RICH , WE need SOCIALISM!!!!!!!

  2. This quote sums up one of the biggest problems with the current administration that I hope Peter Shumlin changes and that is the 190% increase in private contracting out of work that should be done by State employees.

“a breakdown in the communication between those served, those providing services and their government partners”

  3. “that is the 190% increase in private contracting out of work that should be done by State employees.”

Arthur, can you imagine how much more that contracting would be if Dubie had got in. That’s been the goal of the Douglas/Dubie administration for years — outsource as much of state guv as they could get away with at far higher costs to the tax payer to subsidize private enterprise, just like the feds under gop rule.

Nicole: ” WE need SOCIALISM!!!!!!!” Thank god for us socialists:) We’re still around and still fighting:)

  4. The irony is here we have Bernie railing in DC about the working person getting screwed and the rich getting richer, yet back home here at the state level, it’s nearly an identical situation to the national dynamic. No thought to raise taxes on the weathiest Vermonters, a roll-back of the cap gains modification and wholesale cuts to state services and jobs.

I hope a little of Bernie makes its way to Montpelier this session. Lord knows we could use his voice back home here.

Comment policy

VTD requires that all commenters identify themselves by first and last name. You may wonder why we don't accept anonymous comments. The short answer is: We want to keep the discourse civil.

You might rightly ask, since most online newspapers accept anonymous posts from readers, what makes VTD so special?

The long answer is: Anonymous comments don't support our mission. We are a nonprofit news organization dedicated to enhancing democracy through in-depth journalism. Our role is to foster a civil online discourse, and one very simple and effective way to do that is to require commenters to identify themselves. This isn't a new idea, of course. This is the way newspapers have treated letters to the editor since time immemorial.

As a result of our comment policy, VTD has created a safe zone for readers who want to engage in a thoughtful discussion on a range of subjects. We hope you join the conversation.
