The state can’t award the contract for the Bennington project until it has secured 2.5 acres of abutting land. Airport managers and users have complained about a lack of information.
Local officials and business owners at the airport want to know more specifically when the facility’s only runway is likely to close and reopen.
A member of the nonprofit group overseeing the facility worried the closure might hurt attempts to attract a private operator again. A transportation official said planned upgrades should help that effort.
A $5 million runway reconstruction effort is expected to begin in 2018.
The group has a two-year agreement to operate the state airport. Plans include attracting more events and group activities and building revenue from services.
