Biography

Pat was born in Vermont, settled in Colchester in 1985. He and his wife, Mary , have two children, Ryan and Katie, and three grandchildren, Raegan, Denny, and McKay.

Thirty nine years ago he became a small buisness owner, opening Brennan’s Quick Stop in Colchester and soon after Bloomin Onion Concessions, which has since become a staple at the Champlain Valley Fair.Previously Pat has served as a Colchester High School “ Key Communicator” building connections between the district and the community. He also spent over a decade as coach of the CMS Girls softball team.He began his public service by serving 7 years on the Colchester Planning Commission.

Since 2003 Pat has served Colchester in the Vermont General Assembly, where he has been on the frontlines of fighting against burdensome tax and fee increases on Vermonters.In that time Pat has forged relationships with members across the isle.

Pat currently serves as chair of Council of State Goverments on Transportation, and its Executive Committee. He has served on the House Transportation Committee for 14 years including 9 as its Chair. Also 4 years on the Ways and Means committee and the last two on the powerful “ Appropriations Committee as its Ranking Member. He currently serves as a Justice of the Peace and member of the Civil board of Authority.He is also a past member of the citizens advisory on Lake Champlain.

Why are you running for office?

I am running for the office of State Senator, to continue working in that body, on the issues that are of most importance to Vermonters, including making Vermont more affordable, by lowering taxes , making it a safer state to live in and reforming the way we fund Education. Given my 22 years of service in the House of Representatives,I feel uniquely qualified to continue this work in the Senate,serving the people of Grand Isle County.
