Biography

I am a lifelong resident of central Vermont, and have been involved in Boy Scouts, and my church. I graduated from Johnson State College, where I studied under my friend and mentor, Senator Bill Doyle. I attended seminary in Philadelphia, and decided to take my career in a different direction, returning to Vermont, eventually leading to my work in transportation, and running my own trucking company. Now, my calling is to returning to my families farm, and serving my community. I am an avid hunter, and enjoy singing in church, helping to lead worship services, and in an occasional choir.

Candidate occupation

Truck Driver

Why are you running for office?

The Democrat supermajority has made a horrible mess, and is in such chaos, that few people want to step up and serve; but someone needs to do it. Governor Scott is working for Vermonters, but he doesn’t have the support he needs. I will represent the people, and LISTEN to them, and strive to understand their needs. Furthermore, I will keep them informed, and will focus on the needs of Vermont, rather than trying to save the world.

Issues in depth

What would you do to help grow Vermont’s economy?

Fix our roads and bridges. Amend ACT-250 to make it easier to build affordable housing, and ease the burden on businesses and responsible development. Promote subsidies for farmers. Control spending.

What changes, if any, would you make to the way Vermont funds its schools?

The smoke and mirrors, inflated “equalized student” inflated student count system needs to end. Primary school funding should be sourced through the income tax, rather than property taxes. Institute a state funded “foundation payment” with the option for locally funded enhcements from property taxes.

Is Vermont doing enough, too much or not enough to address climate change? Please explain.

Too much. Climate change is real, but I’m not sure that we have much to do with it. We need to do what we can reasonably do, giving consideration to a proper cost-benefit analysis, but our primary focus should be on resiliency.

Is Vermont doing enough, too much or not enough to regulate gun ownership? Please explain.

Too much. I will NOT support any legislation that would erode our Second Amendment/Article 16 rights. I will work towards ENHANCING those rights.

What would you do to help ease Vermont’s housing crisis?

Ease restrictions on affordable housing by reforming ACT-250

How would you address rising homelessness in Vermont?

Vermont already does more for the homeless than most other states, and it’s no surprise We have the second highest incidence of homeless in the country. We need to stop importing the homeless, and treat each homeless person as an individual, to assist them in evaluating their abilities and need for support.

What would you do to increase access to health care services for Vermonters?

No answer
