Why are you running for office?
My primary concern is that taxes continue to go higher and higher. I think we need some fresh ideas in Montpelier. I am hoping I can bring some of those fresh ideas and help provide some solutions that don’t create such a heavy tax burden on our residents. I’ve seen so many of the people I grew up with leave not because they want to but because it is just too expensive to live here.

Issues in depth
What would you do to help grow Vermont’s economy?
I would create a tax environment that encourages small businesses to start their companies here and established small businesses move here to grow. My hope would be to create good paying jobs thus creating a stronger tax base.
What changes, if any, would you make to the way Vermont funds its schools?
I think the funding system needs to change. I would like to see educational resources combined in districts. All through covid the children attended school from home. I think we should take a deeper dive on this and see if a similar program could help reduce the overhead of running all the schools. In any case I am open to any new ideas.
Is Vermont doing enough, too much or not enough to address climate change? Please explain.
I fully support a move toward a zero-emission world, but we must pace ourselves. When things are rushed mistakes can happen.
Is Vermont doing enough, too much or not enough to regulate gun ownership? Please explain.
No answer
What would you do to help ease Vermont’s housing crisis?
I would create a tax environment where builders are encouraged to build new housing. With extra incentives to build them environmentally friendly. I also think we need to make it easier for landlords to deal with troublesome tenants.
How would you address rising homelessness in Vermont?
We have a lot of programs out there already from housing assistance to financial assistance. I would like to see a central organization that helps the homeless find and sign up on these programs as they can be very difficult especially if they don’t have internet access or a home address.
What would you do to increase access to health care services for Vermonters?
I would like to see more choices right now we only have two.
