May 30 2020, 12:03 PM

Demonstrators plan to gather in Burlington and Montpelier Saturday to protest against the death of George Floyd, a black man who died at the hands of police in Minnesota.

People have taken to the streets across the United States after Floyd’s death on Monday. Video of the encounter shows a white police officer kneeling on Floyd’s neck for more than eight minutes.

Organizers of the protest in Burlington, scheduled to take place in Battery Park at 6 p.m., say masks are required, and they encourage attendees to be aware of physical distancing practices to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

In Montpelier, a vigil is planned for 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of State Street an Main Street. Organizers ask attendees to wear masks, and plan to maintain physical distancing by spreading out across the four corners of the intersection.

A vigil is also planned in Hanover, New Hampshire at 6 p.m.
