Official Rules: VTDigger Flood Preparedness Kit Giveaway
NO PURCHASE, DONATION OR SURVEY RESPONSE IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE, DONATION OR SURVEY RESPONSE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.
1. Sponsor. The giveaway is sponsored by Vermont Journalism Trust d/b/a VTDigger, P.O. Box 1374, Montpelier, VT 05601 (“Sponsor”). The prize is provided by Onion River Outdoors, Montpelier, Vermont (“Prize Provider”). Onion River Outdoors is not a sponsor or administrator of this giveaway.
2. Eligibility. Open only to legal residents of Vermont who are 18 years of age or older at the time of entry. Employees, board members and contractors of Sponsor and Prize Provider, and their immediate family members (spouse, parents, children, siblings and their spouses) and members of their households, are not eligible.
3. Entry period. The giveaway begins at 12:00 a.m. ET on Oct. 28, 2026, and ends at 11:59 p.m. ET on Jan. 6, 2027 (“Entry Period”). Sponsor’s computer is the official clock.
4. How to enter. Visit vtdigger.org/floods (or scan the QR code in the print insert) and submit the resource guide survey entry form with your name and a valid email address. All survey questions on the form are optional. You may skip any or all of them and still be entered. Answering survey questions does not affect your chances of winning. Only submissions through the resource guide survey entry form are eligible.
Limit one entry per person. Multiple entries from the same person or email address will be disqualified. Entries made by automated means, scripts or third parties are void.
5. Winner selection. One winner will be selected in a random drawing from all eligible entries on Jan. 8, 2027, by Sponsor, whose decisions are final. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.
6. Notification. The potential winner will be notified by email from thaynes@vtdigger.org within 3 business days of the drawing and must respond within 7 days of notification. Sponsor may require the potential winner to confirm eligibility in writing. If a potential winner cannot be reached, does not respond in time or is found ineligible, the prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner may be selected.
7. Prize. One flood preparedness kit. Approximate retail value: up to $300. Prize is awarded “as is” with no warranty from Sponsor; any product warranties are those of the manufacturer.
8. Prize restrictions. Prize is non-transferable, and no cash or other substitution is allowed, except that Sponsor or Prize Provider may substitute a prize of equal or greater value if items become unavailable. Winner is responsible for any applicable taxes. Prize will be mailed to the winner’s Vermont address within 4 weeks of verification, or the winner may choose to pick it up at Onion River Outdoors in Montpelier.
9. Use of information. Information collected is used to administer the giveaway and as described in VTDigger’s Privacy Policy. Entering does not subscribe you to any VTDigger newsletter. Survey responses are not considered in selecting a winner.
10. General conditions. Sponsor may cancel, modify or suspend the giveaway if it reasonably concludes that fraud, technical failure or other causes beyond its control affect its fair administration. By entering, participants agree to these Official Rules and to Sponsor’s decisions. Sponsor and Prize Provider are not responsible for lost, late, incomplete or misdirected entries. By accepting the prize, winner releases Sponsor and Prize Provider from liability related to the prize or the giveaway, to the extent permitted by law.
11. Governing law. These rules are governed by the laws of the State of Vermont.
12. Winner’s name. To request the winner’s first name, last initial, email thaynes@vtdigger.org or send a self-addressed stamped envelope to VTDigger, P.O. Box 1374, Montpelier, VT 05601, received by Feb. 28, 2027.
