Two days after election day, it’s still unclear whether the Progressive Party’s write-in campaign for Lt. Gov. David Zuckerman (who won the Democratic nomination) was successful.

The Secretary of State current has perennial candidates Cris Ericson (254 votes) and Boots Wardinski (237 votes) in a close race.

However, there are also 354 write-in votes. Josh Wronski, executive director of the Progressive Party, said he believes Zuckerman may pull it out once all votes are counted by town clerks.

If Zuckerman’s “rate of write-ins holds true, he should eek it out,” Wronski said, adding the party was expecting final results Friday.

Ericson won every other statewide political race on the Progressive ticket uncontested, but lost out to Chris Brimmer, the party’s secretary, in her bid for the nomination to take on Rep. Peter Welch for Vermont’s lone U.S. House seat.
