State and federal officials are scheduled to update the public on Wednesday, July 12, at 11:30 a.m.

State and federal leaders and emergency officials on Wednesday will tour the catastrophic damage wreaked this week by flooding in Vermont.

Gov. Phil Scott, FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell and the state’s congressional delegation — Sens. Bernie Sanders and Peter Welch, and Rep. Becca Balint — will gather for a press briefing in the capital at 11:30 a.m., according to the governor’s office.

FEMA officials will subsequently review the damage by helicopter before the cohort gathers for a ground tour in central Vermont, including through residential neighborhoods in Barre.

Criswell is traveling to the state from Washington, D.C., after President Joe Biden declared the flooding to be a major disaster.
