Dear reader,
Readers have been at the core of our mission at VTDigger from the beginning.
You tell us what we should report — in calls to the office, in emails to reporters and through our anonymous tip form at the end of every story.
And we listen. Every day we report on what you want to know.
When the Duclos family told us about a botched police investigation of a missing hiker, we were there to shine a light on the state’s failed search and rescue program. We followed the story until the Legislature mandated changes to search and rescue protocols in 2013. Today, the state has an effective volunteer program that has saved dozens of lives.
Many readers complained about how hard it was to sign up for health insurance through the state-run Vermont Health Connect system in 2014. Through a public records request, we learned that the state had spent more than $100 million on the failed website. We continued to highlight problems with the website, and eventually, the system was fixed.
We take your suggestions to heart because we know you care about the future of Vermont. And our ability to respond to your questions is directly related to support from readers like you.
Will you help us give Vermont the news it deserves?
Thank you for supporting our work.
With gratitude,

Anne Galloway
