Vermont is the latest state to offer federal workers unemployment insurance during the ongoing government shutdown. The Scott administration announced Tuesday that essential federal employees would now be eligible. The move flouts a directive from the Trump administration.
Adjutant general reiterates defense of Guard before presenting sexual assault report
The head of the Vermont National Guard told lawmakers he was in โcomplete disagreementโ over media reports that the Guard allowed a culture of alcohol abuse and sexual harassment. Major General Steven Cray made these comments Tuesday as the Guard presented its annual report on sexual assault and harassment complaints, which showed two reports of assault and six reports of harassment in the last year.
Sinex takes back seat on CityPlace development
Developer Don Sinex is moving out of the spotlight in the long-delayed Burlington CityPlace project. Sinex was absent from a scheduled appearance before the Burlington City Council on Tuesday, while a representative from the majority partner, Brookfield Asset Management, told council members that the company was committed to finishing the project.
