Thanks to generous contributions from readers, we were able to meet the News Match challenge. We raised $57,925 toward our end of year goal so far. But we still have $292,075 to raise to meet our budget.
Here at VTDigger, we strive to produce the best news in Vermont. For the next two months, we will also bring you voices from inside the newsroom — the VTDigger staffers who make our news possible.
Today, Mark Johnson, senior editor and reporter talks about how he feels about having joined the VTDigger crew. As you may know, Mark has been a media personality in Vermont for decades, and we were deeply honored when he came to work with us two years ago.
It’s easy for media outlets to cover press conferences — and we do too — but the investigative stories that VTDigger specializes in require time, weeks of research and cultivating sources.
VTDigger’s five-part series on PFOA groundwater contamination in Bennington and the role of state officials required scores of interviews and reviewing mounds of documents. We continue to have several reporters covering the EB-5 fraud, which Digger helped expose.
