Valerie Ann Sevene (Place), 71, of Clinton, Kentucky, passed away peacefully in her home with her loving family by her side, after a short battle with lung cancer. She was born in Burlington, to Wilfred H. Place and Elodia E. Cramer-Putnam.
Valerie had a deep love for her family and brought joy to all who knew her. She also loved the beach; camping in Garfield, Vermont; antiques; and, most recently, auctions.
She was a Jafra consultant, where she strived to become a general manager. She owned and operated Route 7 Antiques and Treasures on Shelburne Road in South Burlington. One of her biggest accomplishments was holding a CDL and eventually driving a bus for Green Mountain Transit in Stowe, where she helped others get around. She retired from there in 2021 as a union representative as well.
Valerie is survived by her husband Theodore L. Sevene; her children Brandon N. Lamphere and wife Dawn Lamphere of Vermont, Oran L. Lamphere of North Carolina, and Tammy L. Lavalette of Vermont; stepson Larry Sevene and wife Angela Boardman Sevene of New Hampshire; her brother Rosaire Badger and his wife Karen Badger of Florida; and her brother Varian Miles of California.
Valerie was preceded in death by her grandson, “Scotty Man” Scott A. Latterell, Jr.; sister Shiela J. Centerbar; stepson Lee C. Sevene; and her parents.
Valerie’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life; she loved and cared for each of them from the moment they were born, each one holding a special place in her heart. She will be deeply missed by all her family and friends. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to New Harmony Baptist Church, 73 Brent Road, Clinton, KY 42031, in Valerie’s memory.
