Dear Readers,
There’s a tremendous amount of uncertainty right now in Vermont’s public education system. I’ve been reporting on the effects of the state’s new education reform bill, Act 73, since it was signed into law in July.
When people don’t have access to solid, fact-based reporting, decisions get made behind closed doors. I report on Vermont’s schools so that doesn’t happen. So you can see what’s coming and why it matters.
If you value that kind of transparency, please make a donation today during our year end drive.
Act 73 set big changes in motion, but there’s (literally) no map on the table as the legislative session approaches. Our job is to explain what’s at stake clearly so Vermonters can form their own opinions about what should come next.
Whatever lawmakers decide could have an enormous impact on teachers, school district employees, and students and their families. We’ve been doing deep dives into how this law is already affecting school districts throughout the state. But there is sure to be even more debate in the Statehouse when the legislative session begins.
Your donation will help support us as we shine a light on that debate and on how those changes will impact schools and students throughout Vermont.
Your gift will also send 3 meals to the Vermont Foodbank.
Thoughtful, verified journalism takes time and resources. Please help ensure that Vermont has the in-depth, independent coverage our communities deserve.
Thanks for reading,
