Thereโs so much happening at the federal level that affects Vermont, and our readers are telling us they want more accountability reporting from Washington โ on the decisions our representatives make and on the actions of federal agencies that shape life here.
Thatโs why weโve partnered with the nonprofit, nonpartisan Allbritton Journalism Institute and its newsroom, NOTUS. Through its Washington Bureau Initiative, NOTUS puts journalists on the ground in Washington to keep direct watch on federal decision-makers.
Starting this month, VTDigger will publish some of NOTUSโs original reporting on our website and in our newsletters. We hope this partnership gives our readers broader access to important stories about how federal policy decisions are made, and how they affect Vermont.
VTDiggerโs own political reporters will continue to cover the Vermont Statehouse, state politics, and our congressional delegation, and how federal decisions are impacting Vermont. The NOTUS coverage will add to that work, helping ensure Vermonters stay informed about issues shaping our state.
This partnership is funded in part by the Vermont Community Foundationโs Press Forward Vermont initiative and a generous gift from Barbara DeFelice of Thetford Center. The 13 community news organizations participating in VTDiggerโs Community News Sharing Project will also be able to republish this reporting at no cost, extending its reach across the state.
It is VTDiggerโs mission to keep Vermonters informed about the decisions shaping your taxes, schools and health care. We bring you all the facts and let you make up your own mind. If this kind of independent reporting is important to you, please help support it today.ย
