Vermont State Police said Thursday they were investigating the deaths of two men whose bodies were found that morning outside a home in South Hero.
The names of the men, ages 68 and 35, were not immediately released, pending notification of relatives and further investigation, state police said in a press release late Thursday afternoon.
“Initial investigation indicates this was an isolated event involving individuals who knew each other,” police said in the release. “Everyone involved with this incident is believed to be accounted for at this time. No one is in custody. There is no threat to the public.”
Police said a 911 caller reported at about 11:30 a.m. Thursday the discovery of two bodies at a home on Kibbe Farm Road.
Members of the Grand Isle County Sheriff’s Department along with the South Hero Rescue and South Hero Volunteer Fire Department responded and found the two men dead at the scene, the release stated.
State police investigators spent Thursday processing the scene for evidence, according to the release.
The bodies of the men will be taken to the Vermont Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington for autopsies to confirm their identity and determine the cause and manner of their deaths, police said in the release.
No further information was immediately available late Thursday afternoon.
