ST. ALBANS โ€” Around 11 a.m, traffic โ€” both pedestrians and vehicles โ€” was picking up in downtown St. Albans. The Franklin County city lies directly in the path of totality for Mondayโ€™s solar eclipse, and organizers here have been preparing for thousands of visitors for months.

At Taylor Park, the site of the cityโ€™s official eclipse celebration, dozens of people had already set up folding chairs and tripods, some with cameras and others with telescopes.

Just down the street at The Traveled Cup, a popular downtown coffee shop, the line was spilling out the door onto the street.
