Walter David Wood (Commonwood) passed peacefully on August 4 after a brief battle with cancer.
Walter moved to Vermont from Albany NY in 1972, after graduating cosmetology school he worked and managed salons in the area until 1982, when he opened Metropolitan Hair. A Cosmetologist for over fifty years, it brought him great joy to help people feel their best. Walter’s creativity went above and beyond when it came to grooming and costuming. Some would say he was a Halloween enthusiast, and he loved to support local pageantry and arts in all forms. In his spare time he would play music on his collection of vintage guitars, Walter loved the blues and played it often. He was also liked to draw and paint, passing time with clever doodles
An avid hiker and outdoorsman, he often spent time camping in the North Woods of Maine, and exploring our National Parks. Walter’s favorite thing to do above all was joke around, and he could often be found laughing at the Vermont Comedy Club.

Walter is Survived by his sisters Patricia Kip, Kim Pickett (Wood), Cheryl Anderson (Wood), brothers Dan Wood and Mark Wood; his son Devin Wood, daughter-in-law Heather, and grandsons, Emmet and Calvin.
