Statewide races
There are six elected officers in Vermont who serve the entire state, not including delegates to Congress. These positions are filled through a general election every two years in November. The state’s three major parties choose their nominees for those offices through primary elections held in August.

This year, Vermont will vote to fill its sole U.S. House seat for two years and one of its U.S. Senate positions for six years (U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders is up for reelection, but U.S. Sen. Peter Welch is not). The nominees for those offices are selected during the primary elections held in August.
