Voting in Bennington County

There are 17 towns in Bennington County: Arlington, Bennington, Dorset, Glastenbury, Landgrove, Manchester, Peru, Pownal, Readsboro, Rupert, Sandgate, Searsburg, Shaftsbury, Stamford, Sunderland, Winhall and Woodford.

The Vermont Senate is the upper house of the Vermont General Assembly. Senate districts roughly map onto county lines, with some exceptions.

Statewide races

There are six elected officers in Vermont who serve the entire state, not including delegates to Congress. These positions are filled through a general election every two years in November. The stateโ€™s three major parties choose their nominees for those offices through primary elections held in August.

Federal races

This year, Vermont will vote to fill its sole U.S. House seat for two years and one of its U.S. Senate positions for six years (U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders is up for reelection, but U.S. Sen. Peter Welch is not). The nominees for those offices are selected during the primary elections held in August.
