The People’s Health and Wellness Clinic in Barre is hosting weekly walk-in Covid-19 vaccine clinics for adults without insurance from this Saturday through the end of the year.
The clinics, which do not require any payment or an appointment, are a rare departure from this year’s Covid-19 vaccination campaign, which is primarily based around pharmacies and health care providers. (You can search for appointments for those locations here.)
The Barre clinic will provide Covid vaccines to people who are 18 years old or older and who do not have health insurance, which excludes participation by people covered by private insurance as well as Medicare and Medicaid. The clinic will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays, starting from Nov. 18 and continuing through Dec. 30. All of the walk-in clinics will take place at People’s Health and Wellness at 51 Church St. in Barre.
There are also two more clinics scheduled for this weekend hosted by the Waterbury Ambulance Service. The Saturday clinic is scheduled to take place at Montpelier High School starting at 9 a.m., and the Sunday clinic will take place at 9 a.m. at Harwood Union High School in Duxbury.
The Waterbury Ambulance clinics offer free, walk-in Covid and flu vaccines for all Vermonters from 6 months to 64 years old. People aged 65 and older are not eligible due to the restrictions around the service’s grant.
According to the Vermont Department of Health, about 10% of Vermonters have received the latest version of the Covid vaccine, which protects against the most recent strains of the virus. Slightly more people, 21%, have gotten this year’s flu vaccine.
