A man was found shot dead in a Newport house Saturday in what Vermont State Police said they believe to be an isolated incident.

Troopers responded to a call at 6:45 p.m. about a man shot in a Farrar Road home and found an adult male dead inside, state police said in a press release Saturday.

Police did not immediately identify the victim.

The investigation is in its early stages and nobody is in custody, police said.
