Gov. Phil Scott is reminding Vermonters whose heating systems were damaged by the July floods that the state will connect them to resources if they reach out.

The state has sent a form survey to roughly 1,000 Vermonters who applied for Federal Emergency Management Agency aid to understand the status of their heating systems ahead of the winter. About half have responded, Scott said at his weekly press conference Wednesday, and about half of those reported not having functioning systems.

If someone hasn’t completed the survey — an email should have arrived from a “vermont.gov” address — they are encouraged to call Scott’s office at 802-828-3333 to provide the information.

The state is working to connect people with the Vermont Fuel Dealers Association or Efficiency Vermont to help them obtain financial assistance and find available technicians. A $36 million publicly financed grant program is available from Efficiency Vermont for flood-impacted businesses and income-eligible individuals seeking to replace home heating systems, water heating systems, and other home appliances.
