A visiting coach at a Waterbury gymnastic center has been accused of voyeurism, reportedly involving recordings from the bathroom of the facility, according to Vermont State Police.
Jonathan Girard, 39, of North Adams, Massachusetts, is set to be arraigned Thursday in Washington County Superior criminal court on the voyeurism charge, according to a release issued late Monday afternoon by state police.
On July 15, state police received a report of video recordings that allegedly came from the bathroom of the Central Vermont Gymnastic Academy of Waterbury between July 10 and July 14.
State police, with the help of the North Adams Police Department in Massachusetts, seized a computer from Girard, who had been a visiting coach at the Waterbury academy, according to the release.
โSubsequent investigation by detectives assigned to the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, including digital forensics analysis, located evidence of the crime of Voyeurism,โ the release stated.
Christina Nolan, an attorney for Anissa Davis, the owner of Central Vermont Gymnastics Academy, said her client would have no comment as the investigation is ongoing.
The gymnastics academy is in the middle of its summer camp season, offering programs for boys and girls ages 4 and older. The academy also offers after-school programs during the academic year, and students from the elementary schools in Moretown and Waterbury and the middle school in Duxbury can take the bus to the academy, which is located in downtown Waterbury.
Girard, according to his LinkedIn page, is the owner of J Star Gymnastics in North Adams. On J Star Gymnasticsโ website, Girard is also listed as the owner and head coach.
A voicemail left at J Star Gymnastics seeking comment on the charge against Girard was not immediately returned Monday.
Adam Silverman, a Vermont State Police spokesperson, said late Monday afternoon he had no additional information to release regarding the investigation.
More information is expected to be available when court records become public regarding the probable cause for his arrest. Those records could not be obtained late Monday afternoon.
