One man was killed and another injured in Danville on Saturday following a domestic dispute, according to Vermont State Police.
An initial investigation found that two members of the same household shot one another just after 1 p.m. Saturday, state police said in a press release that night.
One of the men, who was 50 years old, died. The other, who is 23, was injured. The latter was first brought to Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury and then to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire. His condition was stable, state police said.
Neither man was immediately identified. The state’s Chief Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to conduct an autopsy on the deceased.
Police said Saturday’s shooting was unrelated to another shooting that took place in nearby St. Johnsbury Friday night. That incident began just after 9 p.m. Friday, when three men allegedly entered an apartment on Harrison Avenue and shot two other men, according to state police. The shooters were believed to have left the scene in a black SUV.
The two victims in the St. Johnsbury shooting were also transferred to Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital and then to Dartmouth Hitchcock. They were in critical condition as of early Saturday morning, according to police.
