The Montpelier Post Office had planned to resume handing out mail to post-office box customers Monday.
That did not work out as planned.
The post office had hoped to use National Life headquarters to stage two mobile units, one of which would serve customers with PO boxes, but discovered by Monday that the location is not a viable option.
โFinding a space that is safe for customers and can accommodate the amount of customers we serve is proving to be much more complicated than previously thought,โ supervisor Michelemy Burton texted Monday.
Describing the mobile units as โessentially the food truck of the Post Office,โ Burton said finding a place to park one, especially with major rehabilitation work going on downtown, is not an easy task.
Barton declined an interview Tuesday, but promised more information Wednesday.
