A man incarcerated at the Northeast Correctional Complex in St. Johnsbury attempted to escape Tuesday from the prison but didnโt succeed, according to the state Department of Corrections.
Corrections officials became aware Tuesday afternoon of Seth Brunellโs attempt to escape the secure section of the prison, the department said in a press release. He โdid not pose a danger to the public during the event,โ the department said.
Brunell, 44, is being held without bail at the prison on a charge of second-degree murder. He has been in corrections custody since April 2022, when he was charged with the killing of Fern Feather, a transgender woman from Hinesburg.
Both the Department of Corrections and the Vermont State Police are investigating the escape attempt. No other information was immediately available.
