Two people have died after a motor vehicle crash on Thursday on Interstate 91 in Hartland, according to authorities.

The driver, 83-year-old David Roberts, of Canaan, New Hampshire, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Juanita Young, 64, of Marlboro, succumbed to her injuries at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire, according to police. Young โ€” one of two passengers in the vehicle who had been transported to DHMC from the scene of the crash โ€” had life-threatening injuries, Vermont State Police said in a press release Thursday.

Authorities said they were informed by the hospital of Youngโ€™s death on Friday morning.

One of the occupants was ejected from the car, according to police.

The second passenger in the vehicle was identified as Roberta Roberts, 56, of Lebanon, New Hampshire. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, according to police.

The three occupants and a dog were traveling southbound on I-91 when the vehicle crossed into the median, rolled several times and came to a rest on the northbound side of the interstate, according to police.

A small dog was also found at the scene and taken to a veterinary hospital, officials at the scene said Thursday.

Authorities have not stated the cause of the crash. Road conditions across the Upper Valley were widely reported as challenging on Thursday morning due to the previous nightโ€™s snowstorm.
