State authorities are investigating the death of a 76-year-old woman found lifeless outside her home in Rupert on Saturday, Vermont State Police said in a press release.

The woman is believed to have died from exposure to the elements following a fall, said Trooper Nicholas Grimes. Her body was reportedly discovered in the driveway of her home along Sykes Hollow Road.

Investigators preliminarily consider her death accidental, rather than a result of foul play. Vermontโ€™s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the manner and cause of her death.

Police said they are withholding the womanโ€™s name until her relatives have been notified of her death.
